Balance is the Key & Happy Family Day!

Balance is the key to life!

lol – don’t you just love this photo and my clever advice to remember that balance is the key.  If this giant elephant can balance on that tiny ball….it must be possible for us, as busy women, to find the delicate balance in our lives.

As we head into Family Day week-end we thought it was a perfect time to wish you a happy family time together, and also to challenge you to simplify and slow life down every chance you get.

I read this idea recently and LOVED it!

Challenge yourself to spend one weekend a month without running any errands or doing chores. If you plan in advance, and use the time during the week effectively, it can be done. In fact, it may even motivate you to boost your productivity level during the week substantially.  Remember to get your family on board so you are all working towards the goal together!

Use the quiet week-end time to just relax, unwind and putter around the house. If you find you’re feeling bored, let the initial discomfort pass – on the other side of boredom you’ll find peace and tranquility. Remember, we are human beings not human doings, so we need and deserve to spend some time just being – guilt-free.

Maybe treat yourself to a new relaxing pastime.  I have started enjoying colouring.  At first I found it challenging to just allow myself the time to sit.  I felt like I was doing nothing, and sometimes that is hard for my organizer personality.   I have come to realize though that quiet time contributes greatly to my sense of well-being.  When I am more peaceful, in turn I can see life through those eyes.  I’m a better Donna because of it.

One of the new books that I particularly enjoy is this Jesus Calling colouring & lettering book.

I love this new colouring book because it combines two special things – my new enjoyment of colouring and the opportunity to meditate on the faithful promises of Jesus.

I have appreciated my Jesus Calling devotion book for many years now.

If you don’t have it, please check it out here!

THE BEST devotion book I have ever had!  It was a gift from a past staff member to Rhonda and I years ago.  We now buy the books by the dozen and hand them out to clients, family and friends.  A beautiful book that reminds us daily of Jesus’ promise to be with us moment by moment.

Maybe it’s time for a family meeting, and this week-end would be a great opportunity to schedule one.  Talk about ways that you can spend quality, inexpensive family time together.  Don’t forget to also discuss the idea of having one ‘errand and chore free’ weekend each month!

Happy Family Day from our Heart of the Matter Family to each of you!
