Mama Bear Reflects on the Heart of Christmas.

We have had our first significant snowfall and the signs of Christmas are all around us.  Like always, I like to take a few minutes here in this spot to reflect on the Heart of Christmas.  This tiny nativity is, for me, at the Heart of my Christmas decorating.

It may seem small and insignificant next to the colour and sparkle of the tree, but it is the reminder of God’s gift to me of His Son Jesus and it makes all the difference in my life.  Not just at Christmas, but thankfully, every day of the year.  I read back over my blog from this time in November 2017 and my thoughts remain the same.  We can make a conscious choice on how we move through this Christmas season.

One cool and inexpensive thing that I have discovered are these battery operated lights with a timer.  They make a fun addition to a table centrepiece or a door wreath.  When you put the batteries in and turn on the switch the lights stay on for 6 hours and then turn off.  Then they automatically come back on for the same time period each day.

And I share this photo of my cute little Christmas bird with his bowtie and earlug cap just because it makes me smile

Another thing that made me smile this week is the small ceramic Christmas tree that belonged to my Mama.

It was a year on Sunday since Mom died and I have such fond memories of the joy she had in decorating for Christmas.  This little tree was always on her bathroom counter each year.  The spot where it sat allowed for easy access to a receptacle.  At our house that was not the case.  My vanity surface was a bit too small to have the tree on it.  I boldly asked Papa Bear if there was any possibility that he could rig up something so that I could sit the tree on the back of the toilet, drop the plug down the back and put a hole so that the plug could drop through and be plugged into a receptacle in the laundry room below.  Lots of women wouldn’t dare even voice this idea, but my Papa Bear likes a challenge, and long story short, this tree is glowing in my bathroom with no cord in sight!

Love you Papa Bear 🙂
