Establishing Limits or The Pleasures of Simple Living

We get into trouble when we get out of balance with our quantities.

How do you feel about limits?  Do you feel “rebellious”?  What was your upbringing like in this area?

In the kitchen – if your cupboards & freezer are full then you don’t need more.  Use up the things you already have.

In the bathroom – use up what you have.  If you are buying because you don’t like the old product…..sounds simple, but THROW them out.

If you have received gifts that you don’t like, donate them.  They are yours, and you can do with that what you choose.

In the linen closet – if the shelf is full you have enough.  Encourage the habit in your family to use a towel and then hang it up to dry for the next time.  If you use towels only once it creates way more wash and the mindset that you need way too many towels.

If your towels are ratty & need replacing – do it – don’t put on the bottom of the pile and buy new ones and put them top.  Donate the old ones to the MCC Thrift Shop and mark the bag ‘for rags”.

In your children’s rooms – too many clothes are a headache!! You don’t have to use every hand me down you get.   Have LIMITS on quantities of clothing and toys.  Life is simpler with less stuff.

Simple Pleasures – Advantages to Being Organized

You have more time for family activities.  Never have the feeling that you need to stay home and clean-up.

You enjoy your home more.  You actually have time (guilt free) to sit down, light a delicious smelling candle and read a book.

You have the time & energy to do the things you love to dotake a meal to someone in need – write a note – make a call.
