True or False?

Today we are going to play a game of True or False.

Have you allowed some of these myths to keep you stuck and unable to move forward in your quest to be organized?

Here goes…..

Organized people have no fun.  True or False?

False!  Here at Heart of the Matter we believe that just the opposite is true!  The people who are organized are getting the very best out of life!  They are getting things done, achieving their goals and not wasting time searching for lost items.   Our hope is that by being organized you will find the time to do the things you love and to spend time with the people that you care about.

Don’t start organizing unless you have time to do it fully and completely.  True or False?

False!  If you wait to organize until you have the time to do the job right and in its entirety you’ll never get started.  Organize yourself by listing tasks you can complete in shorter periods of time.  Then schedule those tasks and do them.  Be aware of perfectionism and don’t let it be your downfall.  Make best use of your little minutes.

Being organized means being neat.  True or False?

False!  While you can certainly be neat and be organized, the two terms should not be confused.  While you might have neat piles, or neat boxes piled one on top of the other, or objects lined up neatly in a straight line, you may still not be able to find what you want when you want it.  Being organized means you have systems in place that allow you to find things when you need them and get everything done when it’s due – without frustration, chaos or stress.

There are 4 little words that can make all the difference when it comes to getting organized.  True or False?

True!  The foundation for being organized is based on these 4 little words…..Everything Needs a Home.  As you acquire new items be sure that you assign them a home.  It is the stuff that is flying around and can never be found in the same place twice that doesn’t have a home.  Be deliberate about it.  Assign every item a home that is logical, easy to access and close to its point of use.  When you need it in the future it will be easy to find!

Quality is better than Quantity when it comes to your stuff.  True or False?

True!  In the case of stuff, it is much better to have a few treasures that you love and enjoy, rather than having lots of things you don’t particularly care about.  By thinking quality not quantity you’ll simplify your life!

What good does it do you to have boxes of stuff in your basement and attic that are covered in dust and contain who knows what?  How much better to have the things you use and love stored in easily accessible spots or on display so they can be honoured as treasured memories of the past.  Less is more in this case!
