Heart of the Matter works in teams of two organizers and it is quite
common for us to look at one another and say.....”I can’t believe we
are getting paid to do this”. Call us crazy, but we love this job. The
people we work with are our greatest asset. We have built wonderful
relationships with those who have welcomed us into their homes and
offices.
Since founding Heart of the Matter in June 2004 we have had the privilege
to work with a wide variety of individuals
You might be wondering if hiring a Professional Organizer is a wise course of action for you.
Do you find .... yourself spending too much time looking for lost items?
If you have piles of stuff everywhere and you are always relying on your memory to help
you access the items you need, no doubt there are times when you become very frustrated!
It can be exhausting to try and hold it all together and function to your potential. Have you spent money to replace lost or misplaced items after giving up your search in frustration?
Do you find .... you have piles of paper all over the place?
Have you ever had to produce a certain piece of paper or financial document in a hurry and experienced the embarrassment of not being able to do it on time?
Do you find .... that you have a sentimental attachment to many of your possessions?
Do items represent another time in your life, or a person, or a part of yourself that you feel will be lost forever if you let it go?
Do you find .... items laying around because you don't know where to put them?
Does the phrase “everything needs a home” sound like a foreign language to you? Are
things never stored in the same place twice because ....... try as you may..... you just
can’t come up with the logical place to store things?
Do you find .... your storage areas are overflowing?
Do you know you have too much stuff yet have no idea how to start weeding through it
and deciding what to keep, what to donate and what to send to garbage or recycling?
Do you live in a home or work in an office with limited storage space? Do you need expert
advice on products and solutions available to you?
Do you find .... yourself complaining that you are “too busy”?
Do you turn down social invitations or miss outings with your family and friends because
you need to stay home and “get organized”? Do you feel you are always too busy to do
the things that matter most to you. Do you have exciting creative projects left undone
because you never have the time or energy to work on them? Are your relationships
suffering because you don’t have quality time to devote to them? Do you feel like you
are always working but have nothing to show for it?
Do you find .... yourself in a life transition that is causing you stress?
Have you lost a loved one, experienced the breakdown of your marriage, changed jobs,
lost your job, had a baby, or moved into a new home? These are just a few examples of
life transitions. It is a given that when you experience a life transition your organizational
systems will break down. The frustration and feeling of being overwhelmed is
normal, but no less frustrating. Do you wonder what ever happened to your “organized
self”? Do you look around and say “how did I ever get myself into this chaos.....this
just isn’t me”.
Do you find .... because you are an artist that you associate organizing with “boring”?
Are you a person that feels if you get your space organized that it may squelch your
creative abilities? Have you always felt that “organized” people aren’t creative and freespirited?
Are you also feeling though that the “system” you have in place now just isn’t
working for you and you have no idea how to make things better? Do you feel that you
aren’t working to your creative potential because your supplies are a mess....your ideas
are strewn everywhere and you don’t have a surface to work on?
Do you find .... you want your space organized but you don’t know where to begin?
Perhaps you grew up in a home where organization was never modeled or taught to
you. Is organizing “lingo” a language that you don’t speak? Do you look at your friends
and wonder how on earth they can keep their space organized and you have NO idea
how to tackle the chaos that is your space? Do you look around you and feel
overwhelmed.....feel like crying?
Do you find .... you wish you had someone to help you organize your life?
Have you read all the organizing books, watched all the shows, asked all
your friends for advice, yet you still come up empty when it comes to a
permanent solution to your clutter and chaos?
If you answered yes to even one of these questions, then you are an individual

Organizing Tip
Use pieces of furniture that do double duty. Great examples are trunks for coffee tables and small chests of drawers as end tables or bedside tables.
